“Every human being is profoundly affected by everything said to us, everything done to us, every advantage given, and every opportunity taken away. This is a universal truth, an uncomplicated acknowledgment. No one needs to take a side. It simply is. “
“To those of you making the effort to create meaningful connections, I offer this: listen with your heart and move at the speed of trust.”

About Us
Mutual aid and helping others have always been priorities of The CommAlert Group, the company that founded Gloria’s Dreams Tree. A great need for mutual aid was evident when the pandemic hit, and we saw the opportunity to amplify our efforts to serve others. CommAlert kicked off several initiatives that led to the development of a social enterprise.
These projects allowed us to deepen our connection to the community. It also allowed us to travel and learn from Indigenous leaders across Turtle Island. On this journey, we discovered that mutual aid and social enterprise can flourish, but they need the structure and space to get ideas off the ground and to broaden their reach to help more people.
Since 2019, investments have been made in developing and delivering programs centred around traditional languages, arts and culture, traditional healing, student and corporate education and program support, acts of goodwill, and gifts. Our ultimate goal is to develop a series of Centres of Excellence.
What We’ve Learned… So Far.
Individuals and communities need meaningful, inclusive, and safe spaces where people from all nations and backgrounds can gather, participate in, and connect with art, language, culture, innovation and reconciliation. That is why we are building Indigenous Centres of Excellence.
“The idea of mutual aid is not a foreign concept to First Nations, and I’m interested in sharing the magic in others that I’ve seen all over the place. I’ve been a social entrepreneur my whole life, and the more I connected with my community, the more I realized that the paths to these Centres of Excellence are gifts and goodwill.” Tim Carwell, CEO of The CommAlert Group and Dene citizen of Beaver First Nation.
